1. What size camp mattress should I choose?
Choose the size that matches your bed frame or bunk platform dimensions.
For most camp bunks and standard platforms, 30″ x 72″ and 36″ x 72″ are common, while 39″ x 75″ is a popular “twin XL-style” upgrade for added width and length. Measure the usable sleeping surface (inside rails if it’s a bunk) and choose the closest match to avoid shifting or overhang. If your platform size is non-standard, we can also make a custom camp mattress to match your exact dimensions.
2. What thickness is best for a camp or bunkhouse setup?
Choose 4″ for space-saving, 5″ for a balanced all-purpose option, and 6″ for maximum thickness.
Thickness selection usually comes down to bunk clearance, storage space, and the “look” you want on the bed. A 4″ camp mattress is common where you need a lower profile; 5″ is often the default for general-use camp bedding; and 6″ is typically chosen when you want a thicker mattress appearance or extra height on the bunk platform. If you’re matching existing mattresses, thickness consistency across rooms is often the biggest factor.
3. What do ILD and foam density mean, and why do they matter?
ILD is a firmness rating and density is the foam’s weight per cubic foot, helping you compare options consistently.
ILD (Indentation Load Deflection) is used to indicate how firm the foam feels, while foam density (lbs/cubic ft) is a material specification commonly used to compare foam types. Together, these numbers make it easier to choose a firmness level that matches your camp’s needs and to standardize purchasing across multiple buildings or seasons. If you’re replacing older mattresses, these specs also help you match “feel” more accurately than marketing labels alone.
4. What is the difference between your Value, Good, Better, and Best foam options?
The difference is in comfort, support, and lifespan. Higher-quality foams last longer, stay supportive over time, and resist premature softening, making them better suited for higher-use environments.
Value – 1338 uses 1.3 lb density foam (ILD 38) for light or occasional use.
Good – 1535 uses 1.5 lb density (ILD 35) with improved comfort and durability.
Better – EC36 uses 1.9 lb density (ILD 36) for stronger support and longer service life.
Best – KN35 uses 2.6 lb density (ILD 35) for maximum comfort, support, and longevity.
This structure allows you to standardize sizing and covers while selecting foam grades based on usage and budget, such as lower-use cabins versus higher-use staff areas.
5. What’s the difference between the vinyl cover and the nylon cover?
Vinyl is a smooth wipe-clean surface, while nylon has a fabric-style feel designed for rugged camp use.
A grey vinyl 2-sided cover is often chosen when easy wipe-down and a smooth finish are priorities. A blue nylon 2-sided cover is typically chosen when you want a tougher, textile-style surface that feels less slick and fits the look of many camp environments. If you’re ordering for multiple cabins, choosing one cover type across the site can simplify maintenance and keep everything visually consistent.
6. Is the foam made in Canada and what certifications does it have?
Yes, the foam is Canadian-made and CertiPUR-US certified.
Canadian-made foam helps ensure consistent manufacturing standards and dependable repeat orders, which matters a lot for camps buying in volume or replacing mattresses season after season. CertiPUR-US certification indicates the foam meets specific content, emissions, and durability testing standards under that program. If you’re sourcing for an organization that requires documented specs, this is also useful for internal purchasing approvals
7. Do you offer custom camp mattress sizes or custom specifications?
Yes, we can make custom camp mattresses to fit your exact dimensions and requirements.
If your bunks are older, non-standard, or built-in, standard sizes don’t always fit properly. We can produce custom sizes (and in many cases custom thickness or build requirements) so your mattresses fit correctly without gaps or overhang. For custom orders, share your required length, width, thickness, and quantity, and we’ll guide you to the best configuration for your setup.
8. Can I order in bulk for a camp, school, lodge, or facility?
Yes, bulk ordering is supported and pricing is structured by quantity breaks.
If you’re furnishing multiple cabins or replacing mattresses site-wide, bulk ordering keeps sizing, foam selection, and cover materials consistent across the property. The product page includes automatic price breaks for 5–24, 25–49, 50–99, and 100+ units, which makes it easier to plan budgets for large projects. If you’re ordering across multiple buildings with different bunk sizes, we can also help you standardize a few configurations to simplify reordering.
9. How do I choose the right firmness for different users or buildings?
Pick a foam option by ILD and density so you can keep a consistent standard across rooms and reorders.
Many camps standardize one firmness for camper cabins and a different firmness tier for staff housing or special-use rooms, mainly to keep purchasing simple and repeatable. The best approach is to choose one or two foam options, then use the same sizes and thicknesses across the site where possible. If you tell me your typical bed platforms, usage type (camper cabins, staff rooms, rentals), and how “firm” your existing mattresses feel, I can suggest which option most closely matches your current standard.
10. What information should I have ready before buying or requesting a quote?
Have your required sizes, thickness, cover choice, foam option, and total quantities ready for the fastest, most accurate ordering.
For standard orders, you’ll want to confirm the mattress size (30″ x 72″, 36″ x 72″, or 39″ x 75″), thickness (4″, 5″, or 6″), foam option (Value 1338, Good 1535, Better EC36, Best KN35), and whether you want a vinyl or nylon cover. For custom camp mattresses, you’ll also want to provide exact finished dimensions and any special requirements. Having this info upfront helps avoid sizing mistakes and speeds up bulk planning for camps and facilities.
