Guide To Ordering A Custom Boat Mattress
1. Preparing A Pattern
If you are unable to bring in your old boat mattress, you can create a pattern instead. Most custom shapes require a pattern, but the process doesn’t need to be intimidating or complicated. Using cardboard, fabric, or newspaper taped together, simply trace the outline of your boat mattress and cut out the shape. Ensure your pattern is the exact size you need—no need to account for any filling options. Also, be sure to mark which side should be used for zipper placement.
2. Beveled Edges
Many V-Berth mattresses have angled sides to fit the boat’s sloped walls. To achieve the correct angle, we require either your old mattress or its cover, which can serve as a pattern. If you don’t have either, you’ll need to determine the overall maximum width at your desired mattress thickness.
3. Multi-Layered Design
Boat mattresses are often limited to a thickness of 4” to 6” and may need to serve both as a sleeping and seating surface. A layered mattress provides the best combination of soft comfort and firm support to meet these needs.
4. Soft Topper For Comfort
A soft topper of at least 2” to 3” thick enhances comfort by contouring to your body’s curves. The longevity of this comfort depends on the foam’s density, not just its compression. Our Koosh Natural Foam is mold and mildew resistant and comes in seven different compressions to suit your preference.
5. Firmer Core For Support
A firm core is essential for proper spinal alignment and weight support. The firmness level you choose depends on your weight, personal preference, and back condition. Our ErgoCheck Testing takes the guesswork out of selecting the right firmness for your side of the bed.

Customers frequently call or email asking for a price quote, but providing an accurate estimate without seeing the mattress can be challenging. Relying on a quick and easy solution may result in overpaying or receiving a product that doesn’t meet your needs.
