The Right Camp Mattress At The Right Price
Foamite is a foam and mattress manufacturer. We predominantly supply foam to the furniture and bedding industries. We also make a complete line of Custom Mattresses, with matching foundations, in any size that you require. By using our Ergocheck Pressure Testing technology and drawing from 45 different grades of foam, we can recommend exactly what quality and firmness are best for your application.
We have been in business since 1988, consistently supplying mattresses to camps directly or through distributors. As a commercial member of the OCA (Ontario Camps Association), we sell camp mattresses and replacement covers to all kinds of overnight camps across Canada.
We know foam and comfort. We also know the games distributors play to try and beat our price on a premium quality camp mattress. Buying from the right place doesn’t mean it has to cost you more. Similarly, if you want the cheapest possible price, we can provide that as well. All you have to do is show us a sample and an invoice, and we will give you the same quantity and quality for 10% less than what you recently paid for it.
5 Easy Steps To Choosing The Right Mattress
Step 1 – Choose Your Size & Thickness
Everybody claims their size is a “standard” camp mattress, but standard can mean a lot of things. Our standard sizes are:
-
Sizes: 30 × 72, 36 × 72, and 39 × 75
-
Thicknesses: 4″, 5″, and 6″ Thick If these don’t fit your bunks, no worries—we can make custom sizes and thicknesses to fit your exact requirements.
Step 2 – Get To Know Your Foam
Not all foam is created equal. Foam is rated by its density (the weight/durability of the foam) and its ILD/compression (how soft or hard it feels). Heavier foam with higher density will last much longer, but the firmness has no bearing on the durability or the price.
We offer four distinct foam tiers to fit any camp’s needs:
-
Value (1338): 1.3 lb density / 38 ILD firmness
-
Good (1535): 1.5 lb density / 35 ILD firmness
-
Better (EC36): 1.9 lb density / 36 ILD firmness
-
Best (KN35): 2.6 lb density / 35 ILD firmness
Step 3 – Choose Your Cover Our heavy-duty, fire-retardant covers are built to last. You can choose between a Grey Vinyl Cover or a Blue Vinyl Cover. Importantly, our covers are made with zippers so that you can open them up to see exactly what’s inside, and so you can easily replace them if the need arises. Replacement covers with long 3-sided zippers are half the cost of buying a whole new mattress!
Step 4 – Choose Your Price Point
We can make your mattresses at several different price points depending on the foam tier (Value to Best) and thickness you select. Some people just want the lowest price without the details, but we believe the more you know, the better it is for both of us. There are distributors out there who exaggerate foam density or simply don’t know what they are selling. We’ve seen it all over the years, which is why we value transparency.
Step 5 – Avoid Imposters Some sellers will tell you that the harder the foam is, the better the quality. That is not true. The density of the foam determines the quality, not the firmness. Others will fill the core with polyester fibre (which is lighter than the cheapest foam) or use scrap foam that is shredded and glued together. We could do that too if that’s what you really wanted, but we want you to know exactly what you are paying for.
The worst red flag is when a cover is completely sewn shut around the foam, and the only way to check inside is by ripping the cover off. One can’t help but wonder what they are hiding. What’s inside matters!
